Chrome for Android — the long-rumored, oft-requested grand unification of Google’s mobile and desktop browsing technologies — has just been announced today, and it’s being made available immediately as a beta release for phones and tablets running Ice Cream Sandwich.

Τέσσερα χρόνια μετά ως beta στο 1% των Android συσκευών. Είναι ένα πρώτο βήμα.

Σοβαρά τώρα, έχει μερικά ωραία εφέ και θα ήθελα να το δω και στο iOS. Μιας και βασίζεται στο webkit δεν θα υπάρχει πρόβλημα.

Μάλιστα, αξίζει να σημειώσουμε ότι η πλειοψηφία του τζίρου της Apple (53 τοις εκατό) προέρχεται μόνο από το iPhone. Αυτό σημαίνει πρακτικά ότι μόνο και μόνο το τμήμα iPhone στην Apple φέρνει περισσότερα κέρδη από ολόκληρη τη Microsoft. Αλλά και χωρίς το iPhone και τα υπόλοιπα τμήματα της Apple φέρνουν περισσότερα κέρδη από όλα τα τμήματα της Microsoft μαζί.

Amazon just reported its Q4 2011 results, and while sales grew 35 percent to $17.43 billion, the company’s increased operating costs means overall profit fell over 50 percent to $177 million, compared to $416 million in Q4 of 2010. Total sales and profit for the year followed suit, with net sales growing 41 percent over 2010 but profit falling by 45 percent. We’re guessing that the loss Amazon’s taking on each Kindle Fire is driving that equation as well — Kindle sales were triple from a year ago — but Amazon’s operating costs have also gone up in every category, especially fulfillment (packing and shipping) and sales costs.

Προσέξτε: Οι πωλήσεις Kindle τριπλασιάστηκαν αλλά το κέρδος της εταιρείας μειώθηκε 50% το περασμένο τρίμηνο. Αυτό επιβεβαιώνει ότι το Kindle Fire πουλιέται χωρίς να έχει κέρδος η Amazon από τις πωλήσεις!
